The BMW E30 generation 325iX is the best snow vehicle period! It’s not the all-wheel drive that makes the it so good—it’s the light, wonderfully communicative, well balanced, and predictably neutral E30 chassis. A rear-wheel drive E30 is a dam good snow car with the right tires, but an iX is bliss.
When the snow starts to fall, the iX makes the world your playground. It dispatches white stuff like an 80's cocaine habit. White-knuckling crossover drivers, understeering Subarus, aggressive pick up drivers, and nose-heavy Audi’s become cones on your winter autocross course. As this video shows clearance is not an issue, it just cleans the inevitable oil leaks off your iX’s underside. They call it God’s Chariot for a reason!

A friend of mine has two of these. If I had room for a true winter beater, I would probably pick up the one he’s looking to sell.
